Briefs 4-Ballesteros stable after further operation

 Dec 2 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the
world:
 Golf - Five-times major winner Seve Ballesteros had a
routine scheduled operation to help drain fluid from the brain
and to repair the bone flap from the October 16 intervention,
Madrid's La Paz hospital said in a statement.
 He is stable and remains under observation in intensive
care.
 The 51-year-old Spaniard has made steady progress since
three operations on a brain tumour in October.
 
 Soccer - Jermaine Pennant has become the latest Liverpool
player to have his home targetted by thieves.
 Police said the gates to Pennant's home in Hale Village were
apparently rammed by a car although there was no damage to the
house. Club captain Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, Pepe Reina, Lucas
Leiva and Daniel Agger have all been burgled in the past 18
months.
 
 Soccer - Romanian first division club FC Timisoara has fired
Czech coach Dusan Uhrin jr., FC Timisoara owner Marian Iancu
said.
 Timisoara qualified for the UEFA Cup last season and are
currently third in the standings.
