LBBW to push for merger talks with BayernLB: sources
STUTTGART, Germany (Reuters) - German state-owned Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg's LBBW.UL owners planned to push for merger talks with peer BayernLB BAYLB.UL, sources familiar with the matter said on Friday.
The two banks' owners last month already discussed the possibility of combining the two banks.
The savings banks of the German states of Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria as well as the states themselves each hold big stakes in the banks.
In addition, LBBW's owners would discuss at a meeting on Friday plans to hike the banks capital by 5 billion euros ($6.26 billion) in the first quarter of next year, the sources said.
New funds from the owners would be paid back from 2014, they said.
