UPDATE 1-Telecom plus boosted as utility customers switch
LONDON, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Telecom plus (TEP.L: Quote, Profile, Research) shares rose on Friday after the utility accounts repackager said full year results would be "significantly ahead" of market expectations in a bullish results statement.
The share price rose 4.6 percent to 384 pence by 1055 GMT.
In the first five months of 2008-09 customer numbers increased by almost 16,000 to over 233,500, the company said.
House broker KBC Peel Hunt raised its 2008-09 pretax forecast by 15 percent from 20.2 million pounds ($35.53 million) to 23.2 million on Friday, while for the following year the broker has revised its estimate up from 23.0 million pounds to 25.2 million pounds.
Telecom plus negotiates bulk buying deals with major suppliers. The company, which trades as Utility Warehouse, offers a range of services -- including gas, electricity, fixed line and broadband internet access -- to both residential and business customers.
