FACTBOX - Security developments in Afghanistan

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 3 p.m. on Tuesday:

ZABUL - U.S.-led coalition and Afghan security forces killed 43 militants during heavy fighting in Qalat district of southern Zabul province Sunday, some 350 km (215 miles) southwest of Kabul, the U.S. military said.

HELMAND - Afghan and international troops killed 16 Taliban insurgents and wounded six more during a gun battle in Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province Monday, some 570 km (350 miles) southwest of Kabul, provincial police chief Asadullah Sherzad told Reuters.

KANDAHAR - U.S.-led coalition and Afghan security forces captured four insurgents, including a known Taliban commander Sunday in Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province, some 500 km (312 miles) southwest of Kabul, the U.S. military said.
